Come study photography this summer in British Columbia:
July 23rd-27th at Hollyhock Retreat Centre on Cortes Island.

    You go "click." The light, content, composition, technical and artistic aspects all come together. It is an expression of you as your image touches the viewer. Aha! Light outside and light inside connect.

    Hollyhock and Cortes Island are spectacularly beautiful. Sparkling water, dappled light, undulating motion, Hollyhock's amazing garden, all inspire. We shoot these special moments and places in the magical high latitude light of B.C. Up at dawn and out at sunset. Our schedule is the light.

    Our discussions will consider the "intention" of the image and artist, issues of composition, "telling the story", "where is the light?" and technical subtleties like exposure compensation, depth of field and blur.

    We will practice "processing" an image in the computer and share feedback in critique sessions. We will submit our work to Hollyhock for the catalogue, and will have a "Shoot for the Cover" opportunity.
